Chinese New Year - 初一

First day of the lunar new year.

My house is super lively and crowded with all my relatives coming to my house for lunch.

All from my father's side.
The table is filled with good food, delicious curry and yummy soup with self-made fish maw.
Large crowd is never fun without kids.
With Annh Li (my cousin's daughter) around, there is always fun.

Annh Li, with ang bao in her hand, she likes to say "wah" to her mummy while passing the ang bao to her.

Ang bao is important. So is the tennis ball. I want both.

Chinese New Year Eve - Not so eve

It's the eve of the lunar new year...

Waterloo Street

As usual, for the past few years, I've been following my father to waterloo street get some photo opportunity on the temple crowd there.

Unlike the previous years, this time the crowd at waterloo street is much lesser and you can feel it.
And there is a change from the organisers of the temple in allowing crowd in.
Instead of having endless groups of crowd flocking into the temple, they had short breaks after a few rounds to let their staff settle down and rest a bit.
Within that 15min which my father went in and came out, I managed to get some shots...
(We were there after midnight.)

Standing out is better than squeezing with the crowd.

Next stop is a teochew temple which my grandfather has been praying at.
Now my father continues the practice.
It's actually the temple near Amoy street which many people like to take pictures of their spiral incense.

ISN - International Student Night

Great thanks to TengYong, Leonard, YitLeong and Jeanbean for coming to the performance to watch me perform.
I was rather nervous.
Though I've been a performer since primary school,
And have done many performances back in sec sch with angklung band,
I can't help but to still very nervous.
Bcos this is my first time playing percussion for performance.
This is also my firs time which I went solo.


When I was in angklung band back then in sec sch,
I played the kulintang which is a group instrument.
So that wasn't scary.
But now with only and only one percussionist (that's me)
And having to start solo for 2 songs,
I had to constantly practice in silent the rhythm in case I forget.


Oh yah...
Jeanbean gave me the Fusia bear (the mascot for In-Fusion)
And at the same time, I he gave me another one which was meant for YitLeong's bdae.
And so I carried two cute bears to the dressing room where the rest of my angklungers where.
The bears made them jealous.
hmmm...

The bears sitting on the basin looked like they are a couple.
heheh.

This is my bear.

I was joking the day before that they should buy me flowers to support me.
And they really did!!!
A pink rose with a mini blue teddy bear attached.

So now, the bear is sitting on my table, next to my laptop in the above position.
